About Us
The mission of Smoky Mountains Bulldog Rescue is to rehabilitate and find loving families for homeless bulldogs. Our goal is to provide the care and time needed to prepare unwanted bulldogs for placement. We pledge to do our best to make sure they have a good life.
Smoky Mountains Bulldog Rescue provides shelter, re-homing assistance, and funds for medical treatment for bulldogs. These dogs come to us from animal shelters and owners who wish to surrender their purebred bulldogs. We help bulldogs in the Central Tennessee area find suitable homes. Our network consists of volunteers who foster, do home checks, transport, and place bulldogs who come into our program. We rely entirely on donations for support.
The Founder
Mari Decuir
As many of you know, our rescue family suffered a tremendous loss last year with the death of our beloved Mari Decuir — the heart and soul of Smoky Mountains Bulldog Rescue. Mari was the driving force behind SMBR. Her passion, wisdom, and tireless devotion to bulldogs built the foundation of our mission and touched countless lives, both two- and four-legged.
Mari believed that every English Bulldog deserves a life full of love, belly rubs, and snores on the couch. Sadly, with her passing, we also lost decades of experience and expertise.
Now, as we navigate this new chapter without her, the remaining board members are committed to honoring Mari’s legacy by continuing the work she held so dear. But we can’t do it alone.
That’s why we’re reaching out to reconnect with our foster families, volunteers, and previous adopters, and to invite new supporters to join us as we rebuild and move forward.
English Bulldogs are truly one of a kind. Their sweet souls and silly personalities come with unique needs — from chronic health issues due to overbreeding to emotional healing after neglect. Without foster homes, volunteers, and donations, we simply cannot keep saving them.
