Surrendering / Fostering / Adopt

Adopting

Our adoption process is relatively simple.  We require an application and a home visit by one of our dedicated SMBR volunteers prior to adopting one of our English bulldogs.

For those new to bulldogs, we are happy to go over care, maintenance, costs, behavior, etc., so that you are informed prior to adoption.

All applications are kept on file and you will be contacted once we have a potential match.  If you see a dog on our Facebook page and think he/she would be a match for you and you have already submitted an application, please feel free to email us at: [email protected] and express your interest in that particular dog.

Surrendering

Smoky Mountains Bulldog Rescue has the goal to make sure that every bulldog has a caring home and someone to love them.  We are here to help you, whether that be educating you on bulldog needs, lending an ear, or surrendering your bulldog to us, where we will work to find and place him/her in a new home.

Please keep in mind that we are volunteer based, and we sometimes need patience while we find a foster home home for your dog.

Our goal is to keep as many dogs as possible out of rescue and shelters, and in the loving arms of their families.

Most people who contact us erroneously think they would be doing their dog a huge favor by finding him a home that “has more time for him or can give him the home they deserve.” In actuality, many dogs are better off remaining in the home they know and love, even if it means they will get less attention from you.  Of course, this only applies to dogs that are being adequately cared for and homes where their basic needs are consistently met.

Please keep in mind, at any given time, rescue may not have open space for all bulldogs needing space to be fostered and cared for before adoption.  Resources may be limited and impact how many bulldogs can be taken in at a time.
